Lab 2: Solar Power Measurement, Part II: Activities
Description: This lab consists of three modules:
- Characterize the peak power output of the solar cell
- Measure how power output of a solar panel changes with the angle of light
- Measure how solar panel efficiency drops when the panel is shaded
Students also get more instruction and hands-on time with various workshop tasks, including
- Drilling holes in sheet metal with a drill press
- Cutting copper and PVC pipe with hand tools
- Cutting rebar with a hacksaw
- Spot welding
- Bending sheet metal with a brake
- Using a hand riveter
